PRESS RELEASE

Judge Jones is tournament honoree.
CASA is beneficiary.

This year’s tournament honoree will be the late Judge Alvin F. Jones and the primary beneficiary of the event will be the Chaves County CASA Program. Jones was a judge, lawyer and devoted community man who died May 28th, 2019. He founded the local CASA program in 1997.

“Judge Jones founded our program and inspired us for 32 years,” said Carrie-Leigh Cloutier, CASA executive director. “In his spirit we will continue to help thousands of children each year.”

Judge Jones’ widow, Linda Jones, added her own sentiments. “CASA held a very special place in Alvin’s heart and I’m sure he would be touched by this gesture.”

CASA requested funding for the creation of a Trauma Informed Crisis Response Team. It will be a team of victim advocates, social workers, law enforcement officials and CASA’s own Courthouse Dog Teams specially trained to deal with children in the aftermath of public shootings and mass casualty events. The goal is to prevent children from entering foster care after such traumatic events by providing intense advocacy.

Your sponsorship and participation in the Rotary Sun Classic Tournament honors Judge Jones and supports the important work of CASA.
